Being 'eco-conscious' is the need of the hour. Many mobile phone makers have taken this into their stride and have made environment friendly phones. However, such handsets don't really do well in the market due to the stepped down features they offer. But, manufacturers these days are trying to make 'green phones' as feature-rich as possible to bring them abreast with the other advanced phones.
Samsung Reclaim Mobile Phone is one such gadget, which seems quite forward compared to other eco-friendly mobile handsets seen so far.
Bio-plastic materials have been used in the construction of this phone, of which almost 80% is recyclable. This bio-plastic has been derived from corn. The charger gives a glow, to indicate when the charging is complete. So you can save electricity.
It is a slider phone with a QWERTY keyboard. The LCD screen measures 2.4" diagonally and has a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels. This cell phone allows access to the internet, emailing, access to social networking websites like Facebook, MySpace and others. A 2 Megapixel camera for shooting stills as well as videos is packed too. Memory expansion with microSD cards is also supported. The phone even houses a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The
Samsung Reclaim Eco-friendly mobile phone comes in 2 colours - ocean blue and earth green. It will be released in the US on August 16, 2009. Sprint has tied up with Samsung for the sales of this handheld. The
mobile phone deal is available for $50 for a 2-year contract. The mobile phone offer also includes instant and mail-in rebates. $2 of this amount will be forwarded to The Nature Conservancy of the US for land conservation activities. Though Samsung have not mentioned a UK release, they do have plans for making more eco-friendly handsets for this market as well as for others. Find
