Samsung's new eco-friendly handset - the Samsung S3030 Eco Mobile Phone has been launched by T-Mobile in the Netherlands. This gadget is available for a price of €89.95 with a pre-paid scheme. This new handheld is a slider phone, which sports a regular numeric keypad, a navigation pad, short-cut keys, send & end-call keys and a 1.9" 65k colour display.

Usually, environment friendly phones do not come with a rich and advanced feature set like smartphones. However the Samsung S3030 Eco is a little different. Though it cannot compete with an enterprise phone, it does house some of the most sought after components by youngsters these days. An MP3 player that is built into this handset, takes care of your music needs. So does the FM radio that is integrated into it. A low-end camera which has a resolution of 1.3 Megapixels is also packed into this device. There is as well a microSD card slot that can hold cards of a maximum capacity of 8GB. Hence storing all your media files and photographs should not be a cause of concern. This handheld is Bluetooth capable too, allowing you to share files with other gadgets or even use Bluetooth headsets for listening to music. The Samsung Blue Earth Smartphone is another eco-friendly phone from Samsung that is quite advanced compared to other green mobile phones. The Samsung Blue Earth was displayed in the Mobile World Congress held at Barcelona, earlier this year.

Some of the other environment pally handsets that we recently came across are the Sony Ericsson Naite, the Sony Ericsson C901 GreenHeart and the Digital Coral 200 Solar. The Sony Ericsson mobile phones too pack in a good load of features for eco-friendly phones.

The Samsung S3030 Eco Slider Phone is made of bio-plastics or organic plastics. This kind of plastic is derived from biomass sources like vegetable oil, starch etc. and are biodegradable. It is also free from PVC and BFR (brominated flame retardants). The charger is eco-friendly as well. The package is totally recyclable too. Hopefully there is a UK release of this handset with some exciting offers soon.
