Samsung S5500E Lydford Mobile Handset shares something in common with
Samsung Blue Earth mobile phone and
Samsung S3030 Eco mobile phone. Yes, it is another environment friendly gadget from
Samsung! Recycled material is used in making the handset. The packaging material too, is made from recycled paper. Soy ink is used for printing on it. This ink is derived from soybeans and is more eco-friendly than petroleum based ink. The mobile phone also houses an alarm that alerts you when the battery is fully charged. This contributes in saving energy and preventing over charging of the handheld as well.
Like the Samsung Blue Earth phone, the S5500E Lydford is also blue in colour. Attractively designed with neat curved edges, this phone bears a slider form factor. On the facade, you'll see the 2.2" QWVGA screen along with the circular navigation pad and 4 other keys. The sides, hold the volume control keys and the camera clicker. A 3 Megapixel snapper has been integrated into this device. Slide open the phone and the alpha-numeric keypad becomes visible.
The only specification detail that is out in the open right now is that this handset is a 3G capable one, which supports both HSDPA and UMTS for quick internet access. Sounds good for a 'green' phone. This gives the S5500E Lydford a lead when compared to the Samsung Blue Earth, which lacked 3G.
